Avila has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) content or behavior. Protecting children is a fundamental priority, and we are committed to preventing our platform from being used to endanger minors in any way.
1. Our Commitment
Avila is a relationship-building app designed exclusively for adults aged 18 and over. We are committed to:
- Preventing minors from accessing or using the app
- Prohibiting all forms of child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) content and behavior on our platform
- Complying with all applicable laws regarding the protection of children, including the PROTECT Act, COPPA, CSAM reporting obligations, and equivalent laws in other jurisdictions
- Cooperating fully with law enforcement investigations related to child safety
- Reporting all identified CSAE material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) via the CyberTipline
2. What Is CSAE?
Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE) encompasses any content or behavior that sexually exploits or endangers children, including but not limited to:
- Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM): Any visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct involving a minor
- Grooming: Building a relationship with a minor for the purpose of sexual abuse or exploitation
- Sextortion: Coercing a minor to produce sexual content or using such content as leverage
- Trafficking: Recruiting, harboring, or transporting a minor for commercial sex acts
- Solicitation: Seeking sexual contact with a minor or requesting sexual content from a minor
- Sexualization of minors: Any content that depicts minors in a sexual manner, including AI-generated or fictional representations
3. Age Restriction and Verification
Avila enforces a strict 18+ age requirement through the following measures:
- Date of birth gate: During account registration, users must provide their date of birth. The date picker enforces a minimum age of 18 years. Users under 18 cannot proceed past this step.
- Terms of Service: Users must agree to our Terms of Service, which explicitly state that the app is for adults aged 18 and over.
- Account removal: If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will immediately suspend or terminate their account and delete all associated personal data.
4. Prohibited Content and Conduct
The following are strictly prohibited on Avila and will result in immediate account termination and reporting to the appropriate authorities:
- Uploading, sharing, or soliciting CSAM or any sexually explicit content involving minors
- Using the platform to groom, solicit, or exploit minors in any way
- Discussing or promoting sexual activity with minors
- Sharing AI-generated, drawn, or any other form of content that sexualizes minors
- Attempting to circumvent age restrictions to allow minors access to the platform
- Any other conduct that endangers or exploits children
5. Detection and Enforcement
Avila employs the following measures to detect and prevent CSAE content and behavior:
5.1 Content Moderation
- Automated pre-publication scanning: Every photo uploaded as a profile picture or couple photo is scanned by Google Cloud Vision SafeSearch before it becomes visible to the user's paired partner. Images that score likely or very likely for adult or violent content, or very likely for racy content, are rejected at upload time and removed from storage. A per-upload audit trail is retained.
- User-uploaded photos (profile and couple photos) are limited to specific image formats and sizes
- Admin review capability for reported content, with one-click takedown of a user's profile or couple photo and an audit log entry
- Prompt removal of any content that violates this policy
5.2 User Reporting
Users can report any concerning content or behavior by contacting us at safety@avila-catholic.app or via the in-app Profile → Report a concern tile. All reports are reviewed within 24 hours and treated with the highest priority.
5.3 Enforcement Actions
When a violation of this policy is identified, we will take one or more of the following actions:
- Immediate suspension or permanent termination of the offending account
- Preservation of evidence for law enforcement
- Filing a report with NCMEC via the CyberTipline
- Cooperation with law enforcement investigations as required by law
- Notification to relevant authorities in the user's jurisdiction, where applicable
6. Reporting to Authorities
In accordance with U.S. federal law (18 U.S.C. § 2258A), Avila will report any apparent violations involving CSAM to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) via the CyberTipline at www.missingkids.org/gethelpnow/cybertipline.
We will also cooperate with local, state, federal, and international law enforcement agencies to the fullest extent required by law.
7. How to Report a Concern
If you encounter any content or behavior on Avila that you believe endangers a child, or if you suspect a user is a minor, please report it immediately using any of the following methods:
7.1 In-App Reporting

8. Data Handling for Child Safety
If we discover that a user is under 18:
- The account will be immediately suspended
- All personal data associated with the account will be deleted within 30 days, unless retention is required for a law enforcement investigation or legal obligation
- The user will be notified (where appropriate and not contrary to an investigation) that their account has been removed due to age requirements
